Biografie
De Haagse zanger Marcel de Rooij is zijn zangcarriere begonnen op het Koninklijk Conservatorium in Den Haag waar hij jazz-zang heeft gestudeerd. Tijdens zijn opleiding was hij werkzaam als zanger in verschillende cover-bands uit de randstad en heeft ook in verschillende Musicals gespeeld (o.a. Grease en Jesus Christ Superstar ). Ook is hij te zien in verschillende Dinnershows, o.a. Seventies /Horrorshow en American Dream thema avonden . In het eerste half jaar van 2003 was hij in de Nederlandse theaters te zien in de Theatershow La Vie en RoseÂ, met Liesbeth List . Daarnaast heeft hij ook ruime ervaring opgedaan op het gebied van entertainen met het duo M & M, die vooral in Scheveningen langs de boulevard hun werkterrein hadden. Ook heeft hij een aantal seizoenen in Spanje opgetreden in o.a. Salou als zanger en als entertainer bij Hollandse bars en dancings. Tevens op Curacao en Bonaire heeft hij opgetreden. Hij bewijst naast een goede entertainer te zijn ook over een zeer groot stembereik te beschikken, want in April 2000 was hij te zien bij Hennie Huisman Soundmixshow op RTL 4 waar hij in de finale de 6 de plaats wist te bereiken met het hartverwarmende nummer van de Rightious Brothers; Unchained MelodyÂ. Marcel is een keer per week te zien en te beluisteren in Cafe Bolle Jan bij het Rembrandtsplein in hartje Amsterdam. Marcel de Rooij heeft in zijn repertoire naast het Hollandse feestwerk als ; Bossie Rooie Roosjes, Amsterdam Medley, De vrolijke Koster, Jij bent de zon, ook dance classics zoals; Relight my Fire, I feel good, Heaven must be missing an angel, Disco inferno etc. natuurlijk ook het populaire top 40 werk vind je terug in Marcelâs repertoire waaronder ; Something Beautifull van Robbie Williams, Heb je even voor mij van Frans Bauer en Its getting hot in here van Nelly. Op zondagmiddag is hij ook jarenlang wekelijks te zien geweest op de boulevard van Scheveningen waar hij in Grandcafé Jungle een scala aan easy listening /sfeermuziek ten gehore bracht op geheel eigen wijze gepresenteerd.
